2020 was terrible, just downright awful. There were so many times where we would say, well, at least it can’t get any worse…. But don’t dwell on it! Don’t continue to look in the rearview mirror and think about how something negative happened in 2020. Don’t look back and say you hope that never happens again. Don’t dwell on the things you can’t change. That will only make you feel regret and remorse and you’ll never be able to put your best foot forward.

2020 was the definition of moving forward without looking back. Leave that year in the past. 2021 is a new year and a new decade and it deserves a fresh start.

Each new year should be met with excitement, optimism, opportunity, and a willingness to continue being the best you you can possibly be. So many people look at a new year as an opportunity to create a “new” them. Don’t think about creating a new you, continue building upon the existing YOU. Learn a new skill. Learn a new language. Travel somewhere new. Meet new people. There a lot of opportunities to do NEW things without reinventing yourself.

Every day is an opportunity to do something new and do something unique. When’s the last time you did something new? Went to a new restaurant? Read a new book? Had a conversation with a new friend? There are little moments throughout life that can have a huge impact on us down the road.

2020 may have been terrible for some people but for others, it was the best year of their lives. Maybe they got engaged, married, had a child, met the love of their life, found their dream job. Don’t harp on the negatives of that year because there’s no need to bring down their positive vibes and aura. 2021 can be YOUR year to make it the best one yet.

Be positive in 2021. Think outside the box if you feel like you’re trapped. Be an optimist and find the good in a negative situation. All of those quotes that we read in offices, waiting rooms, or elevators, that tell us to “bee positive” and “hang in there” are there to remind us that even when things may be bad or gloomy, there is still light at the end of the tunnel. It’s about staying on course and pushing through to see it through. What are you doing this new decade to continue to shape your future and your life?
